Next comes senility

So, I had an epiphany the other night as I was driving and listening to Oldies 97.3 KBSG (come on, all you Seattlites know the jingle). And I freaked out because they were playing songs by The Carpenters and KC and the Sunshine band and just other very-much-seventies stuff, and I was like, WTF? These songs aren’t OLDIES! Oldies are OLD – like from the fifties and sixties. And then I realized – the radio station has changed with the times, and I haven’t. I realized that it’s 2005 and therefore songs from the 70s are pretty darn old now. So old, in fact, that people of a younger persuasion than myself might consider them “oldies”. And then it hit me – this is how you know you’re getting older. It was a weird, weird moment for my 24-year-old self. I realize I’m not exactly writing up my will here, but still – I just had this acute realization of time having passed without my having really noticed it until that very moment.

So, on a completely unrelated note, does anyone know how I might export all my bookmarked pages from FireFox on my computer at work into some sort of file that I can use to then import/merge them onto the version of FireFox that I have on my laptop? Merci!

  1. I am a little older than you so listening to the oldies station REALLY makes me feel old at times.

I am moving up there next week. Maybe I should give up my apartment snd move straight into a nursing home.

  2. I am with you 100%, I think I heard them play something by the Bee-Gees circa ’77 on the oldies station here, and I was outraged…as well as I was outraged when the classic rock station was playing Guns ‘n Roses…..a regular travesty….balderdash!!!!!

  3. I knew I was getting old when I went to browse a local antiques mall and all the toys I played with when I was growing up are there being sold as antiques. Getting near 40 years old is starting to suck

  4. he tingut a vegades el mateix sentiment, sobretot aquest any treballant amb nens, que no tenen les mateixos referents que tu… Nena, renovar-se o morir.
