Futuristic Sidewalk Art

Check out this sidewalk chalk I spotted at Target the other day. I tell ya, these kids of ours are getting spoiled. Not only does it have nicely-pointed, bi-color sticks (with secondary and even tertiary colors, as opposed to the old-school pink, blue and yellow), but they’re apparently 3-D. Yep, you just put on your… Continue reading Futuristic Sidewalk Art

Feliç Diada de Sant Jordi!

My favorite of all Catalan holidays. Even better than the one that involves champagne, fireworks and pastries. Dia de St. Jordi is sort of comparable to our Valentine’s Day, except far richer in history, culture, lore, accuracy, and passion. So please indulge me with a ridiculously long post-holiday posting. :D The real joy of it… Continue reading Feliç Diada de Sant Jordi!

Northgate Hell

I’ve been going to the Northgate Mall since I was a kid, but I kinda lost interest after their construction got so prevalent that the whole parking lot was covered in debris and chain-link fences. But it seems that some of that construction has finally been finished, yielding lots of swanky new retail space. The… Continue reading Northgate Hell

Isn’t irony fun?

One of life’s cruel ironies: I seem to have gone down a notch in my favorite belt lately. But I can’t tell if it’s because I lost weight, or because my leather belt got stretched out. Don’t mess with my head like that, Belt! It’s just not right. Belts should come pre-stretched the way clothing… Continue reading Isn’t irony fun?

More difficulties

I’m still struggling with iPhone car charger stuff, but I thought I’d post an update since my first whinings on the subject. Just an FYI that the continuation of the saga is in the comments section of that first post, since that’s where all the relevant info lies. Thanks again to you helpers!

New uses for old cognac bottles

Another good DIY trick! I sometimes use Courvoisier to spike sangria, mulled wine and whipping cream, and I almost always buy the mini-bottles since they’re so cheap and I don’t use much. These are one of the few mini-bottled alcohols that still come in glass instead of cheap crappy plastic, and I’ve been compulsively hanging… Continue reading New uses for old cognac bottles

Rotator cuff woes

I don’t think I’ve ever come away from a massage with visual bruising before. I have two matching diagonal bruise-stripes from underarm to collarbone, like little raglan sleeve seams stitched entirely of pain. And the worst part is, this only made a tiny dent in all the saved-up tension I have in my shoulders, pecs,… Continue reading Rotator cuff woes
